Misconceptions about an online course

I caught this on one of the Iowa forums recently that was talking about the CVFT Basic Pistol Course. There were some stating that a face-to-face class had more interaction and opportunities to ask questions. This is one (of many) misconceptions about an online course, the lack of student/teacher interaction. Here was my response.

"Hello everyone! My name is Jason Vetter and I am the instructor and owner of the Cedar Valley Firearms Training, Basic Pistol Course online class.

Just so you know, there is a way to contact me in my class via email or phone if you have a question. The "not being able to ask questions" issue is one misconception about my online class when comparing it to a face-to-face class. Also when a student asks a question, I often make that a part of the class so everyone can benefit from it. As long as we're comparing a face to face class to an online class, one of the biggest benefits of the online class is the ability to take the course at your own pace, at the time that is convenient to you. Now I'm not saying my class is better than anyone else's class. I would never do that. What I am saying is that if the format for the class fits you needs, don't hesitate to take it. I have several happy customers!

More positive responses about my course!

Here are a couple of gentlemen that were pleased after taking Cedar Valley Firearms Training Basic Pistol Course. This is what they had to say...

"When I first heard you could do it on the net, I was kind of thinking are you kidding me? That will be easy. Needless to say I'm glad I was challenged! The website was great! I will definitely recommend this to my buddies." Ryan H.

"Well organized & easy to navigate. Good to see some Iowa specific content included, I don't think all of the out of state trainers that flooded in to Iowa recently care about including Iowa content." Steve M.

Now for that second comment, I don't know what the trainers from out of state are doing, but I can state in my course, we do cover the Iowa law!

"The course was very easy to navigate. Instructions were clear. Thank you!" Michaela R.

"Great format for the course.  Easy to use web site.  Allows students to work at their own pace.  Very in depth coverage of the new law regarding concealed carry.  It covers all necessary material in an evening or two at home--no need to burn a weekend for the same information!" David R.

"Went well, covers all the basics." Mike R.
